What Is Drive in Pallet Racking?

Drive in racking also known as drive-thru racking, allows forklifts to drive into the lanes for loading and unloading goods. This storage system operates on a “last in, first out” (LIFO) basis, suitable for use with special forklift equipment. The fundamental structure of drive in racks consists of multiple rows of upright frames connected without beams, supported by top beams and using cantilever legs and pallet rails for connection.Drive in racking doubles the storage capacity in the same space compared to conventional pallet racking . Goods on the same level and in the same row are placed directly next to each other, maximizing warehouse space utilization to its fullest extent.Drive Through racking is extensively used for the storage of large quantities of uniform goods, such as in the food, tobacco, and cold storage industries, where the packaging is uniform, and products are singular in nature.

Installation of Drive in pallet rack

Drive-in racking installation is challenging and necessitates a skilled engineering team. Begin from the ground up: first, set up the upright frames; next, attach the cross beams and connecting rods to secure these frames; then, put in place the brackets; and finally, mount the guide rails.

The Main Production Process Of Drive in Pallet Racks

1

Punching Process

Holes are spaced along the entire length of the hanging plate at regular intervals, typically 50mm or 75mm apart, for attaching the cross beams.

2

Rolling Process

The uprights and beams are shaped from steel coil using rolling machinery, with beams often categorized as P beams and interlock beams, while uprights commonly feature diamond or teardrop holes.

3

Welding Process

By welding the hanging plate to the beam and the upright to the footplate, a secure connection is achieved, significantly enhancing the structural stability of the racking system.

4

Spraying And Baking Process

After welding, the product is polished, followed by the application of electrostatic powder coating technology on its surface, which is then cured in a high-temperature oven to guarantee a smooth finish.

5

Packaging Process

Reaching the final stage, once product manufacturing is concluded, we typically proceed with packaging the items intended for export. This step ensures protection against damage during long-haul transit and safeguards against corrosion from seawater exposure throughout the shipping process.

What You Want To Know About Drive in Pallet Racking System

Drive-in racks are designed for high-density storage and are best suited for goods or materials that have a high quantity of the same items, such as Non-Perishable Goods,Palletized Items,Seasonal Items,Bulk Materials,Slow-Moving Items,Homogeneous Products,Frozen or Cold Storage Goods,Automotive Parts,Paper Products,Chemicals and Paints and son on.

  1. Drive-in racks require forklifts to enter the storage lanes to load and unload pallets. This necessitates precise maneuvering and skilled operation to navigate the tight spaces without damaging the racks or goods.
  2. Forklifts used in drive-in rack systems often need to have higher lift capabilities and be equipped with features that facilitate safe operation in confined spaces.

The loading of heavy duty drive in pallet racking is 800kg-4000kg per layer.

Drive through racks need forklift access required, so the the forklift size is important.

Here the cost for your reference, about USD 30-40.

With LIFO (Last In, First Out) Storage, drive in racking Reduced Space Requirement, improve High-Density Storage. Also with the Cost Efficiency, drive through racking is Ideal for Bulk Storage.
